Updated the layout
Posted on 04. Jul, 2008 by Wim Haanstra.
I got bored of my previous dark layout and I thought it needed one a bit more Web2.0-stylish.
So here it is and I think it looks nice and clean.

*Sigh*, trying this for the 4th time, but from today the blog is open for comments again. I received a couple of emails telling me that I really should try opening it up again.
So, I am installing a thousand anti-spam plugins just to see if that helps.
109.000 ?
Posted on 07. May, 2008 by Wim Haanstra.
So, I got some Google analytics running on my page to keep me up to date with how many visitors I got on my blog and also how many unique ones.
Well it seems that since january 2008 70.388 people visited my site 109.000 times! In that time there were 513K+ pageviews.
The cool thing is, that 46% used Internet Explorer and that 44% used FireFox to visit my site!
Also, just my blog pulled 26GB of data transfer since January. Pretty impressive for an amateur.. (hmmm, the word amateur should put me higher in the Google rankings
).
Added some comment-spam-filtering [Updated]
Posted on 14. Feb, 2008 by Wim Haanstra.
So, just wanted to let you know that I added some spam-filtering to my blog. I just had to remove over 400 comments, all about drugs, meds and more.
Damn, I hate that crap.
Update: Ok, spam filtering didn’t seem like it was enough, so I installed some captcha extension. Sorry about that, but you need to retype the words below the comment field…. it sucks that this is needed.

Updated blog's appearance a bit
Posted on 24. Jan, 2008 by Wim Haanstra.
So last night I was a bit bored, while I had a million things to do ofcourse
, but I wanted to update my blog’s appearance a bit.
At first I tried resizing my old WordPress skin a bit, to make it a bit more wide, but that didn’t work out like planned, and I screwed up the complete skin. So I went looking for a nice (simple) replacement skin, that I could customize a bit.
So I found it
, you are looking at it now.. the appearance maybe changes a bit more, but this is about it.
PS. Ow… yeah… I also included a nice image link to my Call of Duty 4 Unlock List. It’s right on top of EVERY page, so you won’t miss it
.
Interesting browser statistics
Posted on 14. Jan, 2008 by Wim Haanstra.
I was evaluating my site’s statistics and I found something very interesting.
For the first time in the history of my site, the FireFox browser has a higher usage percentage than Internet Explorer.

Mind you, my own visits to this site aren’t logged, so I am not frauding on this one.
Continue ReadingAds and why there is need for them
Posted on 02. Dec, 2007 by Wim Haanstra.
As you might have noticed, some google ads appeared on my site. Since my post about Call of Duty 4, my visitor count has exploded from the occasional 100 – 200 unique visitors per month, to (for November) ~60.000 unique visitors.
Bandwidth and hosting is not really a problem, but it would be great to play even with the costs. Hope you guys don’t mind

Before I forget
Posted on 05. Mar, 2007 by Wim Haanstra.
Ow, before I forget. I customized this weblog a bit, for when I use certain predefined keywords. For example when I post code and use certain objects, it will make these bold. When you mouse over such an object you will see the namespace it is defined in, when you click on that bold word, you will open an extra window to go to a website explaining what that object is all about.
Example:
[csharp]StringBuilder sbAlottaStrings = new StringBuilder();[/csharp]
When you mouse-over the word StringBuilder, it will show the namespace. Click on it to go the MSDN pages about the stringbuilder. I tought it was pretty neat
