Finally! WallPaper 3.0 is submitted to the AppStore. When the application is approved, I will update this post, but here is a quick summary of the changes.

New features:

  • Completely new code, more efficient, more stable
  • Thumbnails look nicer and higher quality than before
  • Search through wallpapers! Every wallpaper is tagged which makes finding it a lot easier!
  • WallPapers are VERY high quality, supplied by TheWallpapers.org
  • Option to choose whether to save the full image, or just a cropped version
  • WallPaper 3 supports loadbalancing! Get the fastest server for your location!
  • Support multiple resolutions, good for when a new iPhone comes out with higher resolution screen
  • Upload your own images in a higher quality, no compression used!
  • Completely multi-threaded. No more ’stuck’ GUI’s
  • Fixed a couple of memory leaks

Ok just a small update post, to show you that I am not dead, lost, gone crazy or anything else.

The GUI of WallPaper is still under heavy development and I am looking for the nicest way to manage this 22.000+ wallpaper library. So here are some screenshots. Not every screen is made yet, but it will be finished by the end of the week (hopefully).

So, I just got back from my holiday camping out near the sea, when I needed a new challenge :P . I decided (after reading a lot of stories on the net) that it was time to jailbreak my new iPhone.

All the stories I read online, about people who jailbroke their phones, used sim-locked phones so I was quite scared that maybe jailbreaking my officially unlocked phone, would somehow fuxxor it up.

I downloaded WinPwn for my Windows machine and downloaded the latest 2.0 firmware for the 3G phone, from the Apple site. After that I made my own IPSW and iPwned my iTunes (I chose not to ‘Activate’ my iPhone while pwning it).

The first attempt, flashing the firmware ended up in a scary -1 error. My phone was hanging in the process of booting. I put my phone back in DFU mode (which actually is very easy to do) and tried restoring again with my custom firmware.

Voila… after a 10 minute wait, there it was! My unlocked iPhone 3G was jailbroken and Cydia was installed for me to supply me with some new toys to play with!

So, if you ever wonder: will jailbreaking my unlocked iPhone fuck my phone… no.

I recently got myself a nice new keyboard which I wanted to use with my laptop. I am always a big fan of the ultra flat keyboards, so I started looking.

I noticed Apple got a nice brand new type of keyboard, either wireless or wired.

Wired keyboard

Isn’t it a beauty? So it soon was ordered and within a couple of days it arrived at work (where I was gonna use it).

First thing I noticed was that it didn’t work natively on Windows 2008 RC1 which I was running on my laptop then. So I started looking for some drivers. It seemed that I needed the Bootcamp 64 bits drivers for this, which I found after a long search. (Download them here).

After installing the drivers the keyboard came to life and finally I could get started typing away… Aaahhh the smoothness….mmmmm, it was as good as chocolate pie…..but….

After a couple of minutes I got back to work and I found out that I no longer could place a breakpoint (F9 key) and switching between code and design view also didn’t work anymore (F7 key). I quickly found out that I just needed to press the fn key and then my F-key, but that is a pain in the butt, when you are a coder.

After some research, I found out that the keymap’s are stored in the .inf file included with the drivers. I started fooling around with it and yes, my suspicions were confirmed, I need to change the keymap’s stored in there.

I don’t have the time yet to start working on this, but is there anyone who can give me some hints on how to find out which values in the keymap’s are which keys? That way changing around the values would be very easy. I attached the .inf file to this post too.
